Under the U.S. Drug Supply Chain Security Act

The Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA) is a US federal law that aims to improve the security and traceability of pharmaceutical products throughout the supply chain. It requires drug manufacturers, repackagers, third-party logistics providers, wholesale distributors, and dispensers to establish and maintain systems for tracing the ownership and distribution history of prescription drugs.

(DSCSA), Authorized Trading Partners (ATPs) in the pharmaceutical supply chain are required to exchange product compliance information, including drug verification and tracing data. These exchanges of information often take place between “indirect” trading partners with no prior business relationship and varying levels of sophistication, as well as between trading partners and state and federal authorities. The full set of DSCSA requirements come into effect with the end of the stabilization period on November 27th, 2024.
